Macintyre Howie-Reeves is a performer and early career director. He has been actively involved in productions throughout South Australia for nearly a decade.

Macintyre has co-directed Sondheim and Weidman’s Assassins for Hills Music Company and Mozart’s The Magic Flute for Adelaide Hills Chamber Players. He took on the role of Assistant Director to Stuart Maunder during all three of the main stage Gilbert and Sullivan operettas during the G&S Fest. Macintyre was assistant director and, subsequently, revival director for State Opera of South Australia’s touring schools show The Frog Prince.

Macintyre has performed in multiple Adelaide Festival productions, including Brett Dean’s Hamlet, Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton, Mozart’s Requiem, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Golden Cockerel and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem. Stage credits include: Lieutenant Barri in Sondheim’s Passion, The Major General in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, The Father in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, The Page in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, Mr. Lindquist in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, Betto in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Pish-Tush in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado and Publio in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito for Co-Opera, Apparition in Verdi’s Macbeth for State Opera of South Australia . Chorus credits include: Boojum!, Carmen, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, La Bohème, La traviata, Le nozze di Figaro, Macbeth, The Pirates of Penzance for State Opera of South Australia.

Macintyre is also the Co-Creator and Co-Artistic Director of Merge Theatre, an early-stage theatre group committed to exploring new and underperformed shows in non-traditional environments.
